
About Larry Deming
Larry Deming is an accomplished musician, beginning his lifelong musical journey as a child.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University School of Music, studying violin with Henryk Kowalski and composition with John Eaton. His orchestral career includes performing as a violinist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and he currently serves as Concertmaster of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra, and is first violinist of the Deming String Quartet. He has played professionally with many musical luminaries, including Jessye Norman, Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo. His experience on viola includes filming a TV special with Kenny Rogers. He has won various awards for old time fiddling. He currently serves as the organist at Bridgewater Congregational Church and is a freelance violinist and violist in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.
In addition to performing, Larry is an avid composer, arranger, conductor, and teacher in a wide variety of musical genres. He is now an instructor in violin and viola at Kent School in Kent, Conn., having taught previously at the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn. He has been director of the Summer Strings Program at the Danbury Music Centre since 2002. His CD with electroacoustic band, “Mythos” was released in 1998. His solo multicultural CD, "Journey to the East", was released in 2005.
